Haha, recently, I was thinking why people said that

What your body is hot ( e.g. after exercise), you should not got to somewhere cold like AC room, windy outdoor since it will let you get cold ...
.........because Mommy said so  :smile_35:  :smile_35:

It matches your name phrase

Common sense ain't common.

One roommate theory was, our body hole (毛孔) somehow whole dilate and contract which will allow bacteria/virus get in our body and then trapped inside. LOL. And my thought is our body has a lot of different kind of enzymes which is really sensitive to temperature. I wonder if there are a few of them related to our immune system and they lose activity due to rapid body temperature change. Bacteria/virus therefore invade and root during this time.

One can argue our body has its temperature regulation system. However, I think the time scale should be like 10mins or even hour while it may be already enough for the invasion.

how can I not try to do some research on this when you challenge me by labelling this as "common sense"

first up, what does "catch a cold" mean?    http://video.about.com/coldflu/Upper-Respiratory-Infection.htm  <----  so your roommate's 毛孔theory is off a little.

find no study done for linking "cold" with cool down overheated body rapidly.......  however many studies done and proved (or they think they proved) "being cold does not lead to catching a cold".

Except one study here -->  http://www.cnn.com/2005/HEALTH/11/14/cold.chill/index.html
