well the author is a famous historian esp in Ming Dynasty. Depends on what perspective and expectation on the book. Take it as a book on a story with some history background.

I prefer his book about Macro-History

Anyway, back to political point
Some like it is written said 隨煬帝楊廣殺兄奪位，好大喜功，三征高句麗失利，廣徵賦役，開鑿運河，民不聊生，烽火繼起

Do you think he is that bad?
Was it written by those Tong Dynasty emperor?
Who knows

For me, the political part is mainly about some big issues like the ex-emperor must be bad to justify the 合理性正義性 of the current emperor. Rather than part, I do believe the written history do reflect the correct one as it's really hard to prevent that from happening.

That's the political part
That's Chinese part

For Western part, the one I mostly concern - Jesus Christ

Is Jesus Christ really god's son? I don't believe that at all, at all.
No doubt that he was a charismatic leader at that moment and very popular at that time. What he did had a high chance to threaten the Roman's control that Roman govt had to kill Jesus Christ. But after that, Roman govt used Jesus Christ's "holiness" to control those people through Christianity. What a ridiculous contrary.! But now what, he was what he is described by Bible and at least 10% of world population believes in that.

In fact, I do buy Dan Brown's point in his Da Vinci Code.
Religion is tools of politicians to control people. It's easy for a govt to change to history ( Bible as such )
