日協?  Do you mean 3 years Japanese Course offered by General Consulate of Japan?  I attended this course when I was 18 years old (I was one of the youngest student) and completed the course.  But that course focus on reading most........... not enough training for speaking and writing.  You won't know how to speak daily conversation even you complete this course.  

If you just want to take it as an interest course, of course it is ok.

If you want to learn oral Japanese, better go to some other school.

If you have any question on Japanese, you can send me private message and I will help you as long as I can.

Yeah, the consulate of Japan one, 3 years = 3 different level class?
I want to apply for the beginner level one first
Read and Write is enough
At least i can travel to Japan alone ( that's the reason I want to learn Japanese, I am so much into travelling in Japan)
