The girls here are pretty innocent, still in schools, not in the real world.
But in real world, I agree.
They had a relatively poor life and don't want to have it back.
They work their best in all sense to get a better life, so may the cunning character comes out.

oh ... when i referred to gals in china, i dont mean the poor only but the rich too
i met few chicks fr metropolitan areas like SH n Beijing n we chatted w/ each others in a couple of causal occasions n their mentality truly surprised me ... they worship, or place blind faith in western things / ppl more than i do n as i said they r tactful in ALL aspects (eg life, career, relationship etc) n would look for ways we "hong gals" r incapable of ... they care less abt how they r perceived by others n more about attainin' their goals ... very impressive but arrogant in my eyes ... perhaps as u said its their survival instinct that made them do watever they can do to get things done n in hand

The lonely thing is 7 years ago ( or 6? ) I forgot.
It is the case when I was in US for my first time.

Right now, loneliness is not the big problem to me.
Perhaps, losing the focus/target of life is the problem to me now.
Without solving the latter question, I have no mood to solve the first one.

Luckily, I have no pressure of marriage from my parents LOL
I am hopeless to them in this view. They know it.

I should have no say on this since I only know few of mainland chinese girls.
Those I know are really nice or....nice in a weird way.
I can say, they are really distilled water.

After talking this...i realise I do know less than 10 non-HK girls here over years.
1 TW, 3 China, 1 Singaporean, 1 Korean....
maybe 1-2 more , i can't recall them now.

materialism? ummm hk itself is a material cosmopolitan ... it aint surprising to see such traits in this little city
at the end of the day we all weight things differently though this "commodity (eg money, valuables, car etc) over necessity" mentality has corrupted how ppl think n behave to a large extent
