I wonder why people always blame the spoon feeding and public exam based system.
Say, if you were in Australia university, what would happen if you failed the courses?
You couldn't graduate right?
Then would you say, the system sucks. The exam can't reflect my ability and why don't you let me graduate?
i won't mind sitting for public exam if its meant sth to me or i could get sth out of it at the end of the day
i'm more than happy to do my professional exam and if i fail i would retake it for sure until i get it done but HKCEE or AL ... :smile_27:

it was merly a burden to me, and i'm sure to many others ... i felt like i was forced to study it without choice and might even get nothing afterall ... perhapsl i knew my limit well and even if i got the uni ticket i won't be able to compete with other HK students to get into my fave discipline / field and that's why i chickened out

Then I can't tell why you hate the HK education system.

It's exam ability problem.

Like in US, one may blame that they are smart but not the smartest to get tuition waived/full scholarship then they can't get in the best university for them. Then they said, US education system sucks..

There are some minor groups suffered from any system. There is no perfect one.

Probably Australia one suits you better doesn't mean HK one is bad
As far as I know, the spoon feeding one helps in the sense that the HK students are relatively better than foreign students in math/science, in the freshman year.

true ... if i want to be a lawyer / doctor, it would be a totally different case and the admission would get tougher, no doubt about it

but hang on! i have one friend who studied business in 1st year and changed her major to law all of a sudden without any problem ... no public exam result required at all!

Internal transfer is another story
That needs GPA and easier

I have some friends had done that too.
Get in some moderate major and switch to the hard one
Like Biochemistry to Medical Doctor, Philosophy to Physics, etc

And marketing doesn't need degree too.
From all those ad I read, they emphasize on working experience.
So, degree is for fun only and a bit of protection that shows you have, at least, minimum ability - graduate from university

i wouldn't say i'll totally agree with you
in today's world, you need a lot of general knowledge to succeed
it may not be the subjects you majored in, in your case, business

i took a bunch of c ...
of course we need to know some basic knowledge but as it labels as general and basic i presume we can learn it from other places like through your daily life ... the university is the place to get yourself prepared for your career, which of more specific purpose i say
