3. 第一次執行        [連結]

第一次執行 Spybot-S&D 會顯示一個 精靈視窗，幫助您完成初次的設定步驟。舉例來說，他可以幫您新增/移除在安裝軟體時未建立/已建立的捷徑圖像。完成必要的選擇之後，打開下一個頁面。

4. 執行掃描        [連結]

安裝程序裡的簡單教學過後，您會進入 Settings 或 Update 頁面。假設各項設定值都正確無誤，軟體也已經更新，現在就讓我們進行第一次掃描。

程式視窗左側有一個導覽區，指引您程式的所有功能。第一區塊 (最上端的按鈕) 標示 Spybot-S&D可引導您進入軟體主視窗。目前您只見到一個空的清單，底端有一個工具列。工具列裡第一個按鈕名稱是 Check for problems -按下此鈕就開始執行掃描。您可以靠著椅背，慢慢欣賞掃描進行狀況。

5. 解讀偵測結果        [連結]

到了這個地步, 您大可直接跳到第七步, 移除偵測到的結果. 不過, 我們建議您再次檢視 Spybot - S &D 的偵測結果. 首先要了解的事情是分辨不同顏色的項目. 紅色項目代表間諜軟體與其他類似的威脅; 綠色項目代表使用記錄.

使用記錄 (希望你已經點選連結, 進一步了解它的本質), 並不需要優先移除, 全按照你個人的偏好斟酌.

現在先忽略使用記錄, 看看這些代表真正威脅的紅色項目. 雖然您當然可以相信我們採用嚴謹的 偵測標準, 您仍然可以點選每一個產品, 閱讀顯示在蹦現視窗的產品資訊.

6. 排除例外        [連結]

所有以紅色標示的問題為真正的威脅; 您應該立刻處理它們. 您可能閱讀產品敘述後, 想要保留一個威脅, 或是使用記錄. 您或許不想要移除 Word 的最近文件開啟記錄...此時, 您有三個選擇.

    * 您可以決定忽略所有的使用記錄. 這這個情況下, 您可以開啟 程式的 設定 部份的 File sets 頁面, 接著停用使用記錄 項目.
    * 或者, 您想要為特定的產品保留所有的記錄, 在結果清單右鍵點選一個產品.
    * 最後, 假如您決定只保留一個檔案, 可以使用 同樣的方式.

7. 移除偵測到的間諜程式        [連結]

現在，您已經清楚地知道偵測結果的意義，該是使用 修復已選的問題 按鈕來處理的時候了。

當你開始考慮是否移除這些瀏覽追蹤標記時，您也許會發現勾選每個項目是件累人的工作。這麼設計的用意很簡單-強迫新手注意檢視偵測結果。等到您對處理的作業有充分的了解之後，就可以使用隱藏的全選 按鈕自動勾選全部項目。

8. Resident        [連結]

If you use Spybot-S&D's realtime protection against spyware, nastyspies will not enter your system. Currently there are three differentkinds of protection.

The Immunize function prevents e.g. Tracking Cookies from entering yoursystem. Immunize works with Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer andOpera, allowing you to adjust specific settings of the browser to blockknown spyware installers, (and similar baddies) already included inSpybot-S&D's database. You start the Immunize function by clickingon Spybot-S&D → Immunize on the left navigation bar.

Resident SDHelper is a second layer of protection for IE. Immunizefunction blocks installers by their ActiveX ID, while SDHelper blocksbadware that tries to enter using a different method. Thus InternetExplorer cannot download bad files. You start SDHelper by clicking onTools → Resident on the left navigation bar (therefore Spybot-S&Dhas to run in Advanced Mode). There you can tick the checkboxes next toResident "SDHelper" (Internet Explorer bad download blocker) active inorder to activate SDHelper.

Resident TeaTimer prevents unwanted files from being installed � nomatter how � on your system. It monitors the processes called/initiatedperpetually. If known malicious processes want to start, TeaTimerimmediately terminates them, giving you three options how to deal withthis process in the future:

    * be informed when the process tries to start again
    * automatically kill the process
    * generally allow the process to run

There is also an option to delete the file associated with this process.

If something tries to change critical registry keys, TeaTimer willdetect it. TeaTimer can protect you against such changes by giving youan option: You can either Allow or Deny the change. TeaTimer is alwaysrunning in the background.

Since Spybot-S&D 1.6 the TeaTimer uses our database where knownfiles are rated as good or dangerous. This database contains severalhundreds of thousands entries and is enlarged continuously. Nonethelessnow and then there are files which are not contained yet. In thesecases and if you use older Spybot versions Resident TeaTimer will askyour permission for every change. If you are not sure if you shouldallow the change, there is a simple rule of thumb:

If you have been installing something and/or if you judge the file thatis going to be installed as good because you know its name, you canproceed by allowing the registry change (same thing if you orSpybot-S&D were deleting an application). But if the message comesout of the blue sky while you were surfing the web, you should getcautious. In this case it is better to deny the registry change.

You start Resident TeaTimer by clicking on Tools → Resident on the leftnavigation bar (therefore Spybot-S&D has to run in Advanced Mode).There you can tick the checkboxes next to Resident "TeaTimer"(Protection of over-all system settings) active in order to activateTeaTimer.

Of course it is possible to revise each of your personal decisions.That could be necessary if you have denied some process which turns outas a good one later. You do so by right clicking on the TeaTimer symbolin the system tray - it is the blue one with the lock. (If you cannotsee the symbol, it is probably hidden. Just click on the arrows in thesystem tray to show all hidden symbols.) A window appears where youhave to click on Settings to modify your personal lists of registrychanges and processes.
