The remains of a pregnant woman are found in the Delaware Bay, and are likely that of Carlie Richardson, a highly publicized case; and Booth struggles with the adversarial relationship he has with his son's mother.

Booth enters Brennan's office to inform her that the police think they’ve discovered the body of Carlie Richardson in the Delaware Bay. At the time of her disappearance a year prior, she was nine months pregnant, and a newlywed with a cheating husband who had a temper. All evidence pointed to the husband, but without a body he couldn't be tried for her murder. On their way out of the lab, Booth gets a call from his ex-girlfriend Rebecca concerning whom their son will spend the weekend with. Booth doesn't like the idea of Rebecca's new boyfriend spending so much time with his son, especially since he has so little time alone with him. Brennan is anxious to get to the crime scene in order to keep her new boss, Dr. Camille Saroyan — “Cam” — from compromising the remains.


Delaware Bay內發現了一具懷疑是Carlie的遺駭。Carlie於一年前失蹤時正懷有九個月身孕，並剛與一名脾氣暴燥且愛玩弄感情的男子結婚。縱使證據均指向 Carlie的丈夫，但當時未有發現Carlie的屍首，警方一直未能提出指控。Brennan於現場檢查屍首，發現死者體內的胎兒仍與母親連繫尠，而她 的身體更曾多次被刺傷……
