Brennan and Booth investigate the site of a train derailment that includes the bodies of a senator and a high-profile businessman; and the man accused of killing Brennan's mother is killed in prison.

Brennan and Booth arrive at the site of the train derailment, and are immediately approached by Dr. Camille Saroyan. She flirts with Booth before explaining that a car parked on the tracks, most likely a suicide, caused the accident. She then tells Brennan to examine the body in the car. Brennan retorts that she doesn't work for her, and Saroyan responds that in fact she does. Booth explains that while Brennan was on vacation with her brother, Goodman hired Saroyan as head of forensics at the Jeffersonian Institute. Brennan is a little bothered by this news, but gets right to work on the body. She notes that the fire damage is too severe for an average car fire. Saroyan returns with news that one of the victims from the train is Senator Paula Davis.
