劇情
1969年倫敦，兩個處於"休眠期"（解僱的和沒有人僱傭的）演員Withnail和Marwood，寄粗生罰在一個潮濕、寒冷幣的環境中，那兒有洗盤子的工人、狂熱的藥販子和發瘋了的愛爾蘭人。
他們決定離開這個骯髒的地方到鄉下去，在Withnail叔叔Monty家的小別墅裡過一段田園式的生活。
但是當他們到達那兒時，整天下著雨，沒有食物，就連他們基本的生存技能也不夠用。還好叔叔Monty的到來，把他們遇到的麻煩都化解了。只不過新的問題又出現了，Monty似乎對Marwood顯得過分熱情……
