i would argue howl's moving castle and a cat return are the only moderate ones.
all hsi others are good.

it's only in theory that the oeuvre (=collection of work of an artist) of a director gets better as time progresses.
in reality it's random ups and downs. :p

ponyo isn't as deep too, but it still made me smile and tear at the end.

nice, how early are we taking about? films before big westwood's age?

i'm very much into these old black and whites. their usage of gramma and words are just witty as Jin and jay-z's lyrics, without the swear words.
