I agree that appearance(眼緣 in your term) is important.

Tell you one thing.
In my previous school, they do some experiment on psychology.
People like Cherry are the ones who take the psychology test.
During the test, I am required to give score/points ( from 0 to 10 ) on picture, without too much thinking of course, like 5 sec, from gut feeling.

There are like few hundreds of photos, some are repeatedly shown in the test. At the end, the researcher concludes one thing from the test.

1. Score of some 幾何 figure are pretty much the same, no matter how many times you see them
2. Landscape pics will have decreasing score after seeing them a number of times
3. Human picture/portrait will have increasing score after seeing them a number of times. i.e. 越看越順眼

So, even one is not that ugly, will be more good looking once you meet him more enough. 性格,價值理念等內在東西 is more important. That's what Cherry thinks XD

Proper meaning of physical here, would be, too short ( like shorter than girls), too fat ( like 230 lbs). Those guys may not have confidence for chasing girls too

I can only speak for myself..... after I see someone's photo, at least I should feel comfortable  ...... if I have a desire to meet him...... that means he can attract me firstly from appearance.  Then, whether have inner beauty, whether we can cope with each other, time will help us to find out.  But if I do not like the man in the first place, I really do not want to force myself to start anything, just because I want to get a boyfriend or a relationship.  It is not good, no matter for him or for me.
