I have a friend doing that too
She works in a financial company
Dealer/Broker ( can't tell the difference now ) will record phone call while they are chatting with client, for evidence if there is any dispute.

Her job is to listen/monitor those phone calls
Then means she can hear much gossips through her private line...OMG
