i used to be like that too... i started spacing out my sets throughout an entire night... then eventually. i could do it in a shorter period of time... but i gotta do it on carpet tho... otherwise ...

You have to push your hands to the limit at a very short amount of time
Like, he did some easy push up first for warm up
Then, do this first serious set of push up
Rest for 1 min
do the second set ( don't worry about not doing as many as you want, just push ! like what girls sometimes told you )
Rest for 1 min
do the third set
Rest for 1 min
do the forth set
Then switch to other training, like triceps one, situp, legs, whatever
Do the similar things
Once finished, he drinks protein powder and eat a banana
What you are doing now ( i do that too ) is the endurance
You can do like 5 sets and then 6-7 sets later with better endurance
But, your power may not increase that much
