by all means, it was only a question for fun and my colleagues and i also added tons of conditions and terms to make it funnier like (I) what if your wife is sexy and can cook like your mama? (II) what if your hubby is reliable and can take care of the whole family like your dad? (III) considering the next 30 or 40 years so after saving your wife / parent and predict what will happen i.e. if you save your SO will you guys stay happily ever forever after your parent died? (IV) how height is the edge and how deep is the sea etc ... i absolutely had a blast this morning

we have discussed both senarios
and our conclusion to the latter case is mama/papa has lived a long life and experienced much ... s/he would want her kid, which is me to be happy in life no matter what and as a mother/father, s/he would sacrifice for her children ... and oh it may sound cold blooded but a colleague of mine added he has had many years with his parents and many more won't make any difference or nicer ... haha
