Which part of HK education system do you think should take the responsibility for this case?
the part where the teachers dont' pay attention to the social behaviour/mind set of children.
i give an example... there's this class i used to teach, about gr. 2 kids... and each time i go, i brought the kids these small packages of candy as treat if they behave at the end of class....
there's this girl, she looked bigger than most kids, and she'd try to take as many as she can... and then the lessons following that, the kids around her start to discriminate her... and refuse to sit with her...
just simple kids problem, but the girl in question doesn't know what she did wrong and continue to act the way she does... maybe because her parents didn't teach her to share, or her parents are also greedy people? i don't know...
but all it really takes is for me to keep her after class for 5 minutes one time and tell her she should try offering the candies to her friends and group-mates first... and the problem is solved from then on...
chinese parents and teachers alike don't pay attention to children's social behaviour... my aunt and uncle did the same thing with my cousin (gr. 3) too... they actually said "i wish she doesn't make too many close friends, coz otherwise i'll have to take them out to play and we don't have so much time."
