yeah, he's japanese...
my chinese teacher used to tell me that "if a work is well written, it doesn't matter what language it gets translate into, and it'll be great literature."
I used to think that was total BS when I was younger, but Murakami is the first author that made me feel that it doesn't matter what language his works get translated into, it'll be a great work (and not for the story, but for the way he paste words together into a sentence... )
You and I like such different books, but similar. Different in the writing style, similar in the sense they both have deep profound meaning beneath.
