That means it's hard for it to have upgraded version.

If he just stuck with only 1 DSLR, it's fine as it's cheaper than Canon ( to compete with the market share probably )
You know, buying DSLR/SLR is like buying the "brand"
Here I mean it's hard to switch from brand to brand as all hardware/accessories won't be compatible with other brands...
Picking Samsung is a good short-term solution but in a long term.
