With the deal for Jermain Defoe looking to be concluded in the next few hours. I was wondering whether he was able to not only be paraded tonight, but might actually get a game??

I have to confess I am not 100% sure of the small print regarding player eligibility for the Carling Cup, but on checking whether Jermain Played in this competition for Pompey reveals he was an unused sub in the 4-0 home defeat to Chelsea, Portsmouth`s only game in the competition.

So he certainly isn`t cup tied from actually playing, but whether there are other regulations which may stop him playing for Spurs, perhaps someone could confirm..
